On September 24, at the invitation of Ambassador of Malta to China H.E. Mr. John Busuttil, President of Home and Abroad News Press Mrs. Wei Yan attended the Malta’s 61st National Day Reception at the ballroom of The Peninsula Beijing with many ambassadors. Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Hua Chunying was invited to attend and raised a toast with Ambassador John Busuttil to celebrate Malta’s 61st Independence Day and wishing the friendship between China and Malta carry on from generation to generation.
晚上19:00, 现场奏响马耳他共和国国歌和中华人民共和国国歌, 伴随着马耳他音乐, 招待会拉开了序幕。马耳他驻华大使白瀚轩阁下致辞。他回溯1964 年马耳他成为主权国家的重要时刻, 称中马友谊以相互尊重为基础, 是互利共赢的典范。他提及今年是中马文化和旅游年收官之年, 近期杭州儿童画展、上海艺术家摄影展等活动, 加深了两国文化联结, 并表示马耳他“坚韧与繁荣”的国庆主题与中国理念契合, 期待在绿色技术、旅游、教育等领域深化合作。现场还洋溢着浓郁的地中海风情：马耳他传统乐队献上悠扬乐曲, 展台陈列的蓝鳍金枪鱼料理、特色甜点等美食让来宾感受马耳他饮食文化魅力。
At 7:00 PM, the national anthems of the Republic of Malta and the People's Republic of China were played in the banquet hall, and the reception started with beautiful Maltese music. Ambassador of Malta to China H.E. Mr. John Busuttil delivered a speech. He reflected on the significant moment in 1964 when Malta became a sovereign nation, stating that the friendship between China and Malta, founded on mutual respect, serves as a model of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. He noted that this year marks the conclusion of the China-Malta Year of Culture and Tourism, with recent events like the Children's Art Exhibition in Hangzhou and the Photographic Exhibition by Shanghai Artists deepening cultural ties between the two nations. He expressed that Malta's National Day theme of “Resilience and Prosperity” aligns with Chinese concepts, and he looks forward to deepening cooperation in areas such as green technology, tourism, and education. The venue was also filled with rich Mediterranean flair: A traditional Maltese band performed melodious tunes, while exhibition booths showcased culinary delights like bluefin tuna dishes and specialty desserts, allowing guests to experience the charm of Maltese cuisine.

In the glorious banquet hall, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Hua Chunying and Ambassador John Busuttil came onto the stage and raised a toast to celebrate Malta's 61st birthday and expressed their best wishes to friendship between China and Malta. She stated that China and Malta enhance mutual trust through dialogue, achieve mutual benefit through cooperation, foster mutual understanding through exchanges, and jointly address global challenges through consultation, this is a partnership more than bilateral significance. Guided by the strategic consensus of the two heads of state, both sides should build a more solid, stable, and dynamic China-Malta comprehensive strategic partnership, steer the sustained and healthy development of bilateral relations, and make greater contributions to world peace, stability, and prosperity.
